ReplyDeleteWhat a GREAT set of books!
ReplyDeleteThose are gorgeous. And what it wonderful about pre-1820 books is that the paper quality is much higher than that of books produced later. Eighteenth century paper was typically cotton-based and had a low acidity level. Thus, it is still pretty supple; whereas later nineteenth century paper is typically acidic and brittle.
