Based on the size and circumference, I believe this is the empty cardboard tube from a roll of toilet paper.
Makes sense, a lot of people do their reading in the bathroom.

ReplyDeleteWow. That seems rather sacrilegious, to put such an item in a book. But, like you said, many people do, um, multitask when occupied in that, um, occupation. (There's really no polite way to talk about it!)

ReplyDeleteI admit to sometimes using nothing but a strip of (clean!) toilet paper as a book mark. I justify it with the fact that the alternative would have been to dog-ear!
