Found in "My Mama Says There Aren't Any Zombies, Ghosts, Vampires, Creatures, Demons, Monsters, Fiends, Goblins, or Things" by Judith Viorst. Published by Atheneum, 1973.
Love the book title! However, I can assure you that the "artist" for the ad took a few liberties with the setting. Utah does not have cactus that grow that high in the desert (only in gardens), and Promontory Point is naturally filled with sagebrush and rabbit brush, not sand and cactus. The train, however, actually looks quite a bit like the real thing ( both original engines have been restored and are on-site -- just in case you ever needed to know that).
Is this book for sale?! :)
