LOVE it! "Hi Hon" might be "Hiltons" ?
ReplyDeleteHmmm, you may be right, Heidi.
ReplyDelete"Hi hon" didn't make much sense.
Might is also be "NY Press Inst." ?
ReplyDeleteIt might be, Alan, but there was a NY Dress Institute on Broadway that was formed in the 1940s to strengthen the garment industry.
ReplyDeleteI did a search for Eagle Marone Phtography and came up with this link to a pdf...

mid page - (Cover photo by Eagle-Marone Studios.)
The magazine is from Friday, May 14, 1948. Too bad they didn't include the cover.
Moon, I did the same search and found the cover (it's rather boring)
ReplyDeleteWill post when I get into work.
It almost looks like the "st" of "inst" might be "st" for street; the "s" is written differently there than in the word "dress" (or "press"). I say that knowing it doesn't make sense unless the other words are all abbreviations, too. And that makes no sense, either (at least to me!).
ReplyDeleteOops, forgot to say: I thought "Hilton" too.
