The signature looks like "Another Amen" to me. Wonder what trots means in this context???

ReplyDeleteMaybe it's actually Another Omen? Although in that case, the A and the O would look really similar.
ReplyDeleteWhat with the reference to the teacher slapping him on the wrist for using one, I think the intended meaning of "trot" is "a literal translation of a foreign language text for use by students, esp. in a surreptitious way" [New Oxford American Dictionary].
