My mother passed away last year. My sisters name in Jean. Although I know there is no way it could be.. for a couple of minutes it was pleasant to dream. I miss my mother. The handwriting is even similar. Thank you. Finski
I watched the movie. It's awesome. Sorry. Just being the typical 17-year-old that I am here. I'd love to have the book. Surely it's more interesting than the movie itself. Great blog btw :)
I find this post very touching. It is one of the most unusual posts I have seen in a long time.
Your bookmark find is almost an evocation of bookmarks I use, not signed, that I usually hunt years for, because I cannot remember which book I left it/them in.
This blog alone has made me feel less self conscious about the odd-ball things I use as bookmarks. Right now I'm using a random business card I was handed at a tattoo convention. It's for a business I have no desire to shop from (a sex-toy shop), but I love the card because it has a lovely image of a pin-up girl on it.
Such a neat blog! I love looking through library books for bookmarks. I used to collect them. Now I only keep the cool ones. The gum wrappers and little slips of paper got kind of boring after a while.
I also collect cards from the old card catalog system.
Anyway, I'm now following your blog. Keep up the neat work :)
that's one of my favourite books in the whole world, although I love the old 70's cover art by Michael Heslop much, much better. the recent movie was such an abomination it upset me and many others no end... for a book with such evocative imagery, it was terrible the way they tampered with the sense of place and the storyline.
my mother was the one who discovered the series in a local book store when I was about 10, and every time I read these books (which is still almost annually) I think of her and her remarkable talent for knowing exactly what I'd love. just like a mum :-)
hey, this blog is interesting.. i liked your title'forgotten book marks'..its funny to see all these forgotten bookm marks..

That's a great book!
ReplyDeleteI just discovered your blog, and I am so glad I did. I can't believe it's not monetized! What a goldmine. Sorry-- that's the accountant in me talking.
ReplyDeleteI love the handwritten recipes, too. If you find some handwritten in Portuguese, let me know. I'm putting together a cookbook and I'll buy them.
Your blog is one of the most original I've ever seen.

I LOVE that book. :) The card is poignant, and just the right find for it.
