Careful and Serious Thought

Card in envelope, 5 inches by 3.5 inches.
Written on envelope: To Ross from Mom

On card:

8/23/81
Dear Ross,
Please accept these books as a late Broome graduation gift.
I hope you will find time to give careful and serious thought to the contents of these books.
I realize now how much you kids (mine and others) lack the moral guidance and hope given through Jesus Christ and the church.
Love,
Mom

Disturbing Your Sleep

Letter on standard-sized paper.
Written on front:

October 30,2001

Dear Neighbor,
Hello.
We were writing to let you know that we're going to be having a party on Saturday night. There is going to be a band but they will be done playing by 11:00 pm because of the noise ordinance. We wanted you to know so that you expected some noise.
Also, Kathy told us tat we (the 3 houses) are responsible for Snow removal. Since you've lived there longer, & let's face it, are probably a lot easier to get along with than Joe, we thought we'd ask you about it, Kathy also mentioned that you had an odd work schedule so that's why we're writing instead of disturbing your sleep.
If you oculd maybe give us a call, we can discuss the plowing.

Winner

We got one extra entry last night at the deadline - thanks to everyone who entered, it was fantastic seeing all these great items. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this stuff is fascinating...

...back to the matter at hand - the winner. I received this the first day of the contest, and I loved the back story. Here it is:

Crossword

I got a call from a patron looking for his lost lost bookmark while at work today. His sister made it for him for his high school graduation. It's over 24 years old! He was really distressed about forgetting it and very excited that I was able to find it for him. It was found in Clive Cussler's "Arctic Drift".

Thanks for the entry, Melissa. I will send you out an email later today so I can send you your prize.

Melissa actually entered two bookmarks, and both were great. She did a great job of keeping the entries in the FB style; interesting backdrop to the image, proper paragraph format, everything... if I didn't know any better, I would think she's been working here at FB for years.
Here is her second entry, just for fun:

No Petting

Love,
Your bladder infected bedmate
